Review: Etude House Magic Any Cushion SPF 34 - Magic Peach

♫ 동방신기 (TVXQ) - 수리수리 (Spellbound)
My groove song while typing this post is so apt, it's kinda freaky just magical. (⌒_⌒;)

Something magical...
You might have heard whispers and rumours about this product. You might have seen the teaser video and photos.

Well, come tomorrow March 1, Etude House's newest offering and addition to the Any Cushion range will be officially launched. It's none other than the Magic Any Cushion!

Picture from @etudeglobal Instagram
The Magic Any Cushion comes in 3 colour-correcting variants: Magic Peach, Magic Pink and Magic Mint. These are basically compact cushion versions of their previous Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base, which had the similar colour selection and functions. Each shade targets different skin tones/problems:
  • Magic Peach - for dull/yellowish skin tone to brighten yellow tones
  • Magic Pink - for pale skin tone to counteract sallow undertones
  • Magic Mint - for reddish skin tone to correct redness

The shade I received to test (I was lucky enough to be randomly chosen via a Facebook event) was Magic Peach.

The packaging of the Magic Any Cushion is similar in size and shape to the Precious Mineral Any Cushion. However, unlike its predecessor, the Magic Any Cushions are colour coordinated, whereby the Magic Mint compact will be mint-coloured, Magic Pink will be pink, and Magic Peach will be peach. The Magic Any Cushion has an oval pattern with the product name printed on it, and the top half of the compact has a matte/satin finish, while the bottom half is shiny.

The one I have here is Magic Peach, and the compact is a soft pastel peach colour. ♥
Love the princessy logo design!

The compact comes with a big mirror under the cover, which makes it super handy for traveling or touch-ups. Despite its slightly bulky packaging, I like it because you can bring it for traveling without worrying about it spilling out and messing up your makeup bag. Also, no mess with your fingers since you pat it on using the puff! It comes with a special 'air puff' just like the BB cushion, but in pink instead of blue.

Besides the plastic cover, the 'cushion' has a protective sticker seal over it, so that it doesn't dry up before you unseal the product to use. Once you remove the sticker seal, it looks like this:
The cushion is fully saturated :)
Pick up the product by pressing the air puff into the cushion, and gently pat it all over your face.
(For detailed instructions on how to apply the product, and how to clean the air puff, head on over to my previous review here.)

For me, 1 layer (maximum 2 layers) is enough to make my skin look dewy, brighter/whiter and more even-toned. Since it has SPF 34, you can skip sun screen (in a pinch), and it acts very well as a base or primer for foundation or BB cream.

I say base/primer, because if you're looking for medium or full coverage, the Magic Any Cushion doesn't really cut it. The Magic Any Cushion range is to target specific skin tones, after all. However, if you're looking for a sheer, light product for light makeup days, or (lucky you!) have good skin with minimal problems, you might want to give this a try. (。◕‿◕。)

(◕‿◕✿)
This is my finished look, using only the Magic Any Cushion, loose powder on T-zone, lip balm, eyeliner and blusher. (I don't use mascara on most days, lol)

You're probably wondering what's the difference between the Magic Any Cushion and Precious Mineral (BB) Any Cushion, so here are some comparison pics.

Hope you liked my review (phew, that was a lot of pics!), and do let me know what are your thoughts on this product in the comments! (✿◠‿◠) Many thanks to Etude House Global for sending me the product to try! ♥

Wow, you are so lucky that EH Global chose you to review Magic Any Cushion! I have not finish using Pure Mineral Any Cushion yet (I heard that refill is not available in Msia T.T)

Would love to try this product in the future!!

Now I have the urge to get this in all three colours. I always want it ALL!
Great post with lovely comparison pics, Laura. I've never tried a wet cushion product before - will they dry out quickly? Will germs incubate? Will I go crazy if I miss out on these?! You always review the most funky products.

Nicole: Yeah, I was really happy to get to test it out. :D I've just bought my refill for the Precious Mineral Any Cushion last month from Qoo10, it's so handy to use. XD

Shireen: Hope you'll be able to try it out soon! Thanks for dropping by~ :)

Shop Girl: IKR! I'm so tempted to get the other 2 because they're so cute (and maaaaybe I'll need to use them on different days LOL). If you use and store them properly, they won't dry out quickly, but they do have a shorter storage period than regular cream/liquid based products. I regularly clean the air puff (after 2-3 uses) but so far I haven't had any adverse reactions after using it. I love them coz they're easy to use/carry around, and most importantly.... no mess with hands! XD

Cindy: Thanks babe! That last pic is after I put on basic makeup (a bit of loose powder, blusher, eyeliner and lip balm)! :D

Thanks for the review! Been itching to try this product after I watched the teaser and I'm glad to know more about it before I head to the stores through your review. I'm looking for the Peach tone one and you are reviewing the one I'm keen on at the same time! :D

Love the finishing on you but I hate the puff. Okay, I'm not a fan of cushion BB Cream lol

Oohh.. Now, I don't know which to try first! I'm curious with the Magic Mint though. I hope it'll conceal the redness on areas of my face.

You never fail to give detailed review. Keep it up Laura! :)

Thanks for reviewing this!

Btw, can we put any cushion refill into magic cushion case?

Hanie: Thank you for dropping by! :D I'm glad my review was helpful, hehe~

Street Love: Hahaha, different preference. XD I like it because I don't have to apply using my fingers or a brush, lol

Marie: If you want to conceal redness, I think the mint one would work well. :) Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a lovely comment!

Iriene: Yes, the refill for Magic Any Cushion does fit into the Precious Mineral casing, and vice versa. :D

I think I need the mint one, my nose is abnormally red hahaha

Lucky! The advertisement is enough to tempt me though...*sigh* it's no good to see Etude's products since they released new product after a short time!

LauraLeia said...

Blair: Hahaha! But I think for us, Peach or Pink would be enough to cover slight redness. XD

Mizu: I can't keep up with their frequent releases! T^T So many pretty/cute products, not enough moolah. :(
