Nature Republic Pastel Mint Nail Polish - Old vs New

♫ Joe Hisaishi in Budokan - 命の名前 ft. Ayaka Hirahara

It should come as no surprise that I have more nail polish than I actually need, but I strongly believe that there is no such thing as having too many nail polishes...

...especially when it comes to pretty pastel mint shades. (✿>◡<✿)

One of my absolute favourite pastel shades is Nature Republic's GR603 pastel mint polish in their old packaging, which I purchased several years ago. No matter how many mint ones I've added to my collection since then, nothing (not even China Glaze 'For Audrey') comes close to it. I was really sad to find out that Nature Republic had discontinued their old nail polish range to make way for the new repackaged versions, but a bit of Googling told me that they also had a nice pastel mint shade in the new collection, so I decided to pick it up and see whether it was the same shade in different packaging.

Besides the completely different bottle design, the old packaging nail polishes don't seem to have individual shade names, only a code, whereas the new repackaged ones have a number and name. The mint green shade of the old packaging is GR603, while the new one is #24 Mint Green.

Nature Republic nail polish: GR603 (old) vs #24 Mint Green (new)

Without having the older version to compare at the store, I thought they looked very similar. However, when you place both together side by side, it's pretty obvious even in the bottle that the older version is a brighter (lighter?) pastel shade, while the new one is slightly duskier and leans more green.

Even though I prefer the older version, I think the new one is very pretty too. If you're looking for a nice pastel mint shade, I highly recommend this nail polish from Nature Republic. It's opaque in 2 coats (or 1 thick coat), applies very smoothly and dries to a beautiful glossy finish. For a pastel/mint lover like me, at RM 11.90 (you can get it cheaper during sales/promos) a bottle, I'd say it's well worth the price for such a beautiful nail colour. (✿◠‿◠)

It's December, time to flip my NRxEXO calendar~ Hello, Lay! :D

P/S: Is it just me or has every Korean brand decided to revamp their nail polish range with these bland, generic-looking cylindrical bottles? :( Etude House, Nature Republic, Innisfree, Tony Moly... Please put back all your pretty whimsical nail polish bottle designs! (╥_╥)

Perfect namja Lay!!! Oooh man, it must have been such a bummer, but at least the new shade is also pretty!

P.S.: I prefer the older version too and yes, what is up with the generic cyclindrical bottles?!

Love mint green! I liked the old shade too and why-oh-why did they change the packaging?! Not so boudoir-cute anymore *sobs*

I also wish that they could bring back the detailed and girly nail polish bottles.

Blair: I will not give up the search for a backup bottle of the old nail polish! XD

Shop Girl: IKR! It really takes away the uniqueness of each brand's nail polish. With the old bottles, it was so easy to identify which brand they were, not to mention much prettier! >_<

Michelle: The generic bottles take the fun out of nail polish :(

Kim: I totally agree! Wish they wouldn't change the entire range/design :(

HerYuan: IKR! Definitely my fave colour, hehe. Even my blog background is a similar shade!
