Food Review: Wafflemeister @ Suria KLCC

♫ 정준영 (Jung Joon Young) - 병이에요 (Spotless Mind)

I was walking around Suria KLCC after visiting the AES Expo 2013, and since it was lunch time I wanted to grab something to eat. This particular store caught my attention because 1. it used to be where my usual ice-cream fix a.k.a. New Zealand's Natural was located, and 2. waffles sounded pretty good at that moment. So off I went to take a look (and taste) to satisfy my curiosity.

See the curious lunch crowd? :P
They've been opened for less than a week, but the store seems to attract many office workers during lunch hour, probably because it's new and looks pretty interesting with the retro-themed decor. The menu at Wafflemeister is pretty simple, and consists of waffles, gelato, coffee and milkshakes.

You can see the various types of waffles and gelato displayed next to the counter. The waffles on display are just that - displays. They make the waffles fresh when you order. ;)

After considering the waffle choices, I decided to pick the "Black & White", which is basically a waffle with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. They have 2 sizes for the waffles: little and regular (?). The portion you see below is regular (RM 14), while little is basically half that size (meant for kids).

'Black & White' with dark chocolate drizzle
I was rather surprised when I placed my order and the lady (I think she was the owner) asked if I wanted white, milk or dark chocolate. I opted for dark, as the whipped cream was already sinful enough. Trying to lessen my guilt at the indulgence? (⌒_⌒;) Nevertheless, I like that customers had a choice to choose the type of chocolate.

The waffle was served piping hot at the counter. You can choose to take-away or dine in, where they have diner-style round stools as well as the usual tables and chairs. There's also a counter for sugar, straws and plastic knife and forks.

Does this tickle your tastebuds? ;)
The waffle itself was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a sweetness that was just nice. However, it wasn't as fluffy and light as I would've liked (the long-closed Gelaré at 1Utama will always be my love), although I do admit the whipped cream + dark chocolate combo did make up for it. The regular portion looked small at first, but by the time I'd finished half the waffle, I was already feeling full. (×_×;)

I would say their waffles are worth a second try (I'm looking at you, Dream Team and Go Bananas!). Best shared with a friend, as the portions, although small, are very filling. As usual, with all eateries located at Suria KLCC, their prices slightly above average, but if you're looking for freshly-made Belgian waffles, this is the place to go.

Wafflemesiter is located at Level 3, Suria KLCC. You can visit their Facebook page Wafflemeister Malaysia for more updates and exclusive promotions! :)

It looks really delicious. I think I would have ordered a waffle with ice cream (they have my favorite, pistachio!), will just have to exercise more later. ^_^
